Why are there so Many Buddhisms

Over 26 centuries and myriad cultures, countries, and regions, the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha’s lifetime have been variously learned and taken as cultural traditions of each separate group of people in their own time and capacity to record and to practice. Ultimately however, there is only One Buddhism in the midst of these many Traditions.
